I am currently working as a certified ESL teacher at a private school in Wuxi, China. I have also taught Primary School, Middle School, and High school in Suzhou, China. I am now currently a High school Teacher in Wuxi, in the Jiangsu province. I am also tutoring older students who are planning to travel to English-speaking countries. Some of my older students that I am tutoring are preparing to take their entrance exam for various Universities. I also volunteer for our school’s summer camp program. It is something I enjoy doing and at the same time the students learn a great deal about the western culture. I also worked at the SMIC summer camp in Shanghai in July of 2010 and 2011. During the last nine years I have been a volunteer teacher for the iCity charitable organization in Suzhou, China. I also have been doing a lot of volunteer work to promote our School.

This student certainly has a bright future and one day I will proudly say “I knew her when ……” ....... 🦅
This student in the video is highly gifted, she speaks 5
languages, English, Korean, French, and German, and not to mention her native
Chinese. She is also incredibly talented when it comes to music with a
remarkable ability to play several musical instruments.
She certainly has a bright future and one day I will proudly
say “I knew her when ……”
I will miss her when she moves on to greater horizons while blazing
a remarkable path for all to see ....... 🦅
Well, most certainly this graduating class of 2021 will have an extraordinarily bright future ...... 🦅
Well, most certainly this graduating class of 2021 will have
an extraordinarily bright future.
They are extremely grateful for the friends they have made
over the years and for their strong academic foundation for furthering their
education.
Every day, I do my best to let others know what I am
grateful for and ‘why.’ The ‘why’ explanation is the most important part of
showing your gratitude to others. This expression of gratefulness will leave
you feeling a lot more lifted when it comes to your mood and attitude on life.
Teaching gives me the purpose to continue forward because it
gives me the greatest joy in life. I am also grateful that these students
walked into my heart to help me become a better person.
Putting my gratitude into action is quite simple - a simple
text message, email, or a nice phone call will accomplish this goal of letting
others know that they are appreciated.
A handwritten thank you note can also be
a super cool surprise for those we care about in our technology-dominant world.
So, I gave each graduating student a handwritten note congratulating them on a
job well done and expressing my appreciation for having them impact my life in such
profoundly positive ways ....... 🦅
Learning about the Chinese culture from my students ....... 🦅
People who know me know that I enjoy singing and I often
sing a song or two in my classes a few times a semester. I also like playing
music between classes to wind down.
One day a few of my female students walked into my office after
class, I was playing a YouTube video on my computer - the greatest hits of the
1960s.
“Hey Tom, don’t you know any songs from this century?” one
student asked.
“I only like the very, very, very, old songs” came my reply.
“Why !!!!!!??” another student asked in an exacerbated
voice.
“Because I am very, very, very, old” I proclaimed.
“No no no no,” she said, “no one is that old.”
“You sing very well,” she said, “but your songs are
soooooooo old.”
“Yes,” I said, “but those are the songs I know.”
“We,” and she put great emphases on the word “we,” she said,
while another student interrupted her, “we can teach you great Chinese songs
from this decade.”
“Well,” I said, “if I practice really, really, hard I can
probably learn how to sing some of them.”
“We can teach you some of them,” she said excitedly.
Another student walked into my office and asked, “Do you
know Jay Chou?”
“No, what grade is he in?” I asked.
“He’s not a student here,” she said, “He is a very famous
singer.”
“What about,” pausing for a second, “Team Wang?” she asked.
“Is that a basketball team?” I asked.
“No,” she said in a shocked voice, “they are a very, very, famous
singing group.”
“I’m sure I can find those people on YouTube,” I said.
Low and behold I found a whole load of Chinese heartthrobs
for my teen students to listen to on YouTube and boy they were extremely happy.
